Maurice Hicks

Maurice Hicks, a distinguished figure in New York State basketball, brings over three decades of experience to his role as the director of Young World Athletics. His journey began as the floor general of a talented Rice High School team. He continued to rise as a four-year student-athlete at Loyola Maryland, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BA) and was later inducted into the school’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. Hicks made his mark as the Head Coach and Athletic Director at Rice High School, his alma mater for sixteen (16) years, amassing an impressive 352-86 record and securing five New York State Federation championships. He then spent five years as Athletic Director for the New York Gauchos AAU program before joining St. John’s men’s basketball as the Director of Basketball Operations from 2010 to 2013. With his wealth of experience at both high school and college levels, Hicks continued to shape the future of basketball in his Assistant Coach position for the men’s basketball team at Long Island University (LIU).
